Well. I have toyed with the idea of running an e-zine specifically to “print” (at no cost) other people’s poetry, and throw in a bit of promotion of events in my local area, and have even gone so far as to set up the whole site with email accounts, the whole shebang.
The question is, am I actually crazy enough to do it? It won’t work if people don’t send me stuff. Why should they? And that pre-supposes that “people” know it exists. That part would not be that hard, I could advertise in some obvious places on the net and….see what happens?
Maybe I need to have a few chats first….

If you’re not already a member, you might consider joining Facebook’s “Calls for Submissions” group, which would certainly help drum up interest, and is, of course, free.

Thanks for the tip 🙂 There are also some Facebook pages used to advertise events and so on for Yorkshire groups and activities, that are widely frequented. So the mechanisms are there, it more the “taking a breath” and plunging in thing. What I am letting myself in for!!!! 🙂

I’d guess that you’re likely to get more submissions than you ever thought possible, and that you’ll be in that place of “too much to do and too little time,” not to mention all of the unexpected twists and turns from the poetry biz. But nothing ventured, nothing gained! 🙂

Yup, I imagine an avalanche… The other thing is that I HATE politics (with a small p) and would not really want to get dragged into any of that; it would strictly (in my eyes) be a “fun” project.

Avoiding politics would be the first step to having fun. 🙂
