Nymphs & Thugs

Poetry for people that don’t like poetry

Last night I had the privilege of filling a brief open mic spot at the launch of Soapbox, a new magazine dedicated to all things spoken-word. It is the brainchild of Matt Abbott, who is also behind the burgeoning Nymphs & Thugs spoken word record label, that has just released its latest CD, “Hot Plastic Moon” by the excellent Toria Garbutt.

The people behind this project are young, vibrant, and energetic (unlike me) and it’s hard not to find their punk-edged sensibility infectious. Matt was interviewed by Counterfeit magazine here, and I’d warmly recommend anyone interested in the new wave of spoken word to check them out.
